Having broken through in the blurred lines of 2010’s UK underground melting pot, Doc Daneeka – originally from Wales & now based in Paris – has gone on to cement a reputation in the house scene.
Whether it is tough funky rhythms, or his deeper, more techno work for Berlin’s 50weapons with Benjamin Damage. Daneeka has maintained a strong thread of warmth and soul to his music. House smashes ‘Walk on in’ and ‘Treptow’ for the reputed Numbers imprint only further engrained him as a fixture of the scene, not to mention ‘What’s it gonna be?’ with Seven Davis Jr. which saw Daneeka take his sound around the world with extensive touring.
2016’s ‘Never Wanna Lose You’, released on his own Ten Thousand Yen imprint, saw vintage vocals spliced over classic breakbeats and ravey chords on this refreshingly different offering. it went on to become one of the standout tracks of late summer.
Doc Daneeka now holds down a monthly residency on Rinse France, showcasing music from around the world including house and techno as well as a platform for showcasing new music from his label. Daneeka’s instinctive musical productions and varied sound, expanding beyond the guidelines of any particular genre is a significant quality to his success.
Doc Daneeka shows no signs of slowing down. With his continued appeal as an eclectic selector and innovative producer, as well as ongoing projects for Ten Thousand Yen, the subsequent year seems hugely promising.
