Back in 2013, Londoner Jimmy Asquith quietly minted the now-ubiquitous record label Lobster Theremin which has since become a seminal global techno institution. Through his own releases under his Asquith moniker, he continues to rapidly grow his audience and appeal deep into the techno sphere having received unabated support from titans of the scene including Nina Kraviz, Peggy Gou, Marcel Dettmann, Haai, Courtesy, Perc, Answer Code Request, Tijana T, Hessle Audio, Mama Snake, DJ Haus, La Fleur, Tiga, Dense & Pika and many more.
With the release of his standout track Let Me (Rave Mix), Asquith has established himself as one of the foremost producers to watch. The Let Me EP release led to stratospheric levels of support from across the techno world – played everywhere from ADE and Unsound to Berghain and Village Underground. The versatility of the track is unquestionable – from being pitched up by Perc to 147bpm to Dense & Pika taking it down to 127bpm. Asquith’s knack for a solid groove and peak time slammer knows no bounds, with the success of this and future material nodding to a worldwide stratospheric ascent.
The release of his debut Asquith productions were no exception, with both mixes of The Conditioning Track getting hammered worldwide from DIY radio to the biggest clubs and warehouses in Europe. The hoofing NYC Mix was the pick of the two versions, having that signature nuclear kick that has formed the backbone of many of his most heavy cuts.
Asquith’s next excursions comes in the shape of the Temple Runner EP. The title track along with fellow A-side ‘Screwfix’ displays a clear talent for pace, thundering electro, whilst the B-side starts with percussive, bass-heavy UK techno and lands smack bang into hectic DNB-via-IDM territory.
Asquith’s DJ travels regularly take him to the most exciting and reputable clubs in the world including Panorama Bar, Corsica Studios, Shelter, Concrete, Tresor, Hifi Club, Circus Tokyo, Elsewhere, Newspeak, Zukunft, Gewölbe, LAUT, Griessmuhle, Kalt, Badaboum plus many more. He also regularly plays outside of Europe and has completed many tours of Australia and N & S America, plus several visits to countries across Asia and Africa.
Alongside Asquith’s busy international touring schedule he holds down a monthly slot on Rinse FM alongside regular presence on NTS radio and other leading global underground radio brands. Asquith also keeps a finger on the pulse of dance music with hosting the sell-out Find Me In The Dark parties at Corsica Studios.
